I'm afraid the service is absolutely terrible in Hungary and it's common knowledge here. It must be a communist thing. You were only in the tourist area and got lucky. At the grocery store, you can expect a grumpy middle aged woman to toss the receipt in your general direction and immediately move on to the next customer as you scramble to collect your things and get out of the way. Waiters do the bare minimum. You can't return anything here. Employees often act like you've ruined their day by entering the business.
I'd like to wager that even with Albania being an 80 IQ country, they know how to define a Woman and know what a woman is.
