Hollywood Inferno: Fear the Lord or You Will be Destroyed?
It is believed that the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19 is based on real events. These two pagan cities really existed, and the Lord was so appalled by their decadence and degeneracy that He “rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire.” Sodom's whereabouts are described in detail in Genesis, and its remains were finally uncovered in 2001, close to the Dead Sea in Jordan. With all that fire and destruction, the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah would make a thrilling Hollywood movie. In fact, they already made it, releasing “Sodom and Gomorrah” in the US in January 1963.
Fast forward 62 years to the second week of January 2025, and Hollywood life imitated Hollywood art. Wildfires, aided by strong winds propelling embers through the air, turned Hollywood itself into a Sodom and Gomorrah-like inferno. A-List celebrities, such as Anthony Hopkins and Paris Hilton, lost their homes. Entire districts of Hollywood were reduced to rubble; the school, the library, the shops... all gone, along with most of the houses. An area the size of London now lies in ruins. We take tinsel down every January. Now, Tinsel Town itself has been taken down by these apocalyptic conflagrations.
Of course, as the landlord of an online pub focused on based science, I'm not going to entertain the idea that these fires were caused by God deciding to punish the most decadent, materialistic, and ungodly people in the world: a people who promote the destruction of family; who promote anti-patriotism, mutilating children, and sexual deviance. However, if I was going to contemplate such an idea, I would note that the parallels with the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah are rather striking.
Surviving religions tend to take that which is adaptive and make it into the will of God. As I have noted in many of my books, most recently "Woke Eugenics: How Social Justice is a Mask for Social Darwinism," one of these adaptive traits is positive and negative ethnocentrism. This permits the group to dominate other groups and so to flourish. In order to be internally cooperative, the males can't be fighting each other due to being concerned about cuckoldry. So God blesses patriarchy: the male control of female sexuality. In order to come up with inventions that allow your group to dominate another, you have to be creative. Studies have found that you are more creative if you repress sexuality: you put sexual energy into creative works, for example, such as innovating fantastic weapons. So the Lord demands sexual restraint.
He insists that families stay together and nurture their offspring, so they're better adapted to a harsh ecology: So, no adultery. Obviously, the Almighty notes that there are different castes with different hereditary abilities: you do what you're best at, as this benefits the group in competition. The Lord demands loyalty to the in-group, obedience to His authority, and the worship only of Him. This helps to create larger, more dominant polities based around mutual trust of those who worship the same moral god. Obviously, the Lord commands criminals and other deviants to be severely punished. In other words, being Woke is very much verboten.
Thus, we can certainly see why the Lord might want to wipe Hollywood off the face of the earth. But we can be more specific about the Sodom and Gomorrah-like nature of the Hollywood Cult. As with the archaeologist Dr. Steven Collins, who discovered Sodom; we can demonstrate the historical truth buried beneath the theological belief.
Rather than believe in promoting the best people for the job, the people of Hollywood, and its environs, believed in "Diversity." Three women, one of them "of color," were appointed to run the Los Angeles Fire Department, despite firefighters being overwhelmingly male, for obvious reasons. Indeed, in June 2023, a program was introduced in California to make firefighting less white and less male. The female Los Angeles fire chief danced at Gay Pride events and announced her "three-year plan" to increase diversity, with no upper limit. Why have strong, fit, level-headed men fighting fires when fat black women can do it instead?
The Lord proclaimed that Man had dominion over the world. But, in California, they were rather partial to the cult of Gaia: that Man is a mere part of the world; even that Man's living standards should suffer for the sake of the animals and the plants. Accordingly, in California, a state prone to drought, water was diverted away from fire hydrant sources into the Pacific Ocean, in order to preserve a particular rare fish called the smelt. As a consequence, when the fires broke out in Hollywood, none of the fire hydrants were full, and some were dangerously empty. Firefighters were reduced to using traffic cones and even handbags to scoop up water from garden swimming pools and throw it onto the flames. Some houses were only saved from destruction because they had a swimming pool in the backyard.
You might think that, even setting aside this ideology-mediated catastrophe, the firefighters could just obtain water from the nearby Pacific Ocean. But, no! You see, salt water might damage the vegetation in the streets around the houses or on the nearby hills, and we have to think about how the vegetation might feel. Would you like to be doused in salt water if you were a palm tree?
Worse still, decadent people, like those in Sodom and Gomorrah, are so conceited that they assume bad things will never happen to them. It was clear the last time there were very serious wildfires in the area, in 1993, that the pipes to the fire hydrants were too narrow and needed to be widened. But, of course, this change was never made. It would involve thinking about the distant future rather than basking in the sun, now. It would require putting money into a project – most unlike “diversity” drives or protecting the smelt – in which there was no immediate payback in terms of Narcissistic supply and being able to feel that you're morally superior to the wretched herd. How does widening pipes that nobody can see permit you to signal your virtue? To spend money on such righteous projects, the female and black Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, even cut the Fire Department's budget by $20,000,000.
Of course, one might venture to suggest that it's fairly decadent to build homes in the Hollywood Hills at all, considering that they are subject to frequent wildfires, albeit not of this year's magnitude. Why build homes there? Likely because you are placing materialistic considerations – a beautiful view combined with relative proximity to a large city, the prestige of living where celebrities live – before factors such as being realistic about safety and thinking about the future.
It's also decadent to allow criminals and the mentally ill to wander the streets, as a result of lax policies where you laud the supposedly disempowered, believe everybody to be equal (including criminals and the mentally ill), and prize their feelings above the good of the community. What's the result? It's arsonists deliberately starting fires in and around Hollywood.
Maybe one day there will be a Hollywood movie about the great Hollywood fire of January 2025, such that art can portray life which itself imitates art. Just as the lesson of Genesis 19 was clear – “Fear the Lord or you will be destroyed” – the lesson of January 2025 also appears to be pretty direct, though it might take a few more such calamities for Hollywood-types to finally learn that lesson: “And he looked over Sodom and Gomorrah and over all the land of the plain and behold, the smoke was rising like the smoke from a kiln.”
