The more I see the more the West seems like prerevolutionary Russia. Elites that have no connection to the people and are scheming against each other, and making life ever more precarious for everyone else. The Russian elites didn't see the Bolshevik revolution coming to wash them away, and neither will ours by whatever revolutionary force removes them.

I'm sure you have already but Watch Peter Hitchens 'Life in the soviet Union' on YouTube Only 14 minutes long or so. Part in the middle where he speaks about surveillance, the similarities are scary and the point where he states Russian citizens being aware of being Monitored and followed but 'learning not to mind' was Chilling.

Ed, great post.

This was 100% a state-sponsored hack. Timing, methods, capability and motive. All check.

Something similar happened to a Canadian physician called Dr Makis. He was promoting research on a cheap, off patent anti-cancer drug that was a direct threat to big pharma. In addition to being on the receiving end of lawfare and extortion by his government, his X account (500k followers) was hacked and posts linked to his detailing of the success of this treatment were systematically deleted. It's almost an exact replica of what happened to Charlie.

He similarly had enormous problems getting X to even respond. He even tried to get Elon's attention on X - to no avail. Finally, after around 4 weeks locked out of his account, and seeing his thousands of posts and testimonials being systematically wiped, he regained access. I think he also had 2FA enabled, yet his account was hacked.

He bis convinced he was hacked by the state intelligence services or a proxy for the same. When you stack up all the persecution he is getting - lawfare in addition to having all but one of his online accounts demonetised/frozen - the hack was the final desperate act of a failing state with Marxist ideologies.

Journalists and other people who post online should use two factor authentication on all their social media accounts and email accounts. There are specific jobs in the MOD, for example, hacking into systems all day to test them. If you only have a password set, it will be hacked if there is a desire to do so.

Yes, but Charlie stated on X that she DID have 2FA.

That's the issue. This was MI5 with GCHQ, probably via a proxy.

Also, it could have been an X employee.

Doubt it. The slowness to respond is just X cost cutting.

The email code reset was the clue - this was an external hack. Someone could see her emails.

Also, folks, GCHQ has had a system in place for a few decades that does 'bulk data collection'. This means it collects all your comms across multiple applications and it is searchable.

The email verification code was generated because the hacker had access to Charlie's email. She said she uses Proton mail, but everything has backdoors.

Someone viewing her email account used the code and was in. Phishing attack, key logger or GCHQ backdoor. Whatever it was, the 2FA system was child's play to bypass.
