Enoch Powell was wrong. You might not expect me to say this, as his “Rovers of Blood Speech” was frighteningly prophetic and he was clearly correct that black and South Asian immigration would lead Britain to the brink of civil war. However, on another issue, as I pointed out on a live stream on 3rd November 2025, Powell was very wrong and that was his insistence that asylums be shut down, a process which finally began in the 1980s and which became formal government policy in 1993.
