I am a Jamaican and also a libertarian, and for most of my life those two things sat together comfortably. Clear the field, get the state out of the way, and let people rise or fall on their own talent and effort. That was the whole of my creed on this subject, and I held it for years without much testing. I have had academic disagreements with Nathan Cofnas, specifically over the Culture of Critique, expounded by Kevin MacDonald, which argues that Jews are higher in ethnocentrism and, consequently, are significant players in anti-nationalist intellectual movements. I am cautiously receptive to the idea, whereas Cofnas, who is Jewish, thinks that any Jewish over-representation is explained overwhelmingly by Ashkenazi higher intelligence. Even so, I think he is to be applauded for highlighting the mendacious behaviour of Jason Arday and, by extension, forcing the excesses of Woke – its destruction and corruption of formerly serious institutions – into the public consciousness.
